ANDRZEJ SŁOWICKI


SŁOWICKI ANDRZEJ was born on 27 January 1945 in Rejowiec, Poland. He has been an outstanding creator of cinema culture for 57 years and the president of legendary Film Society KWANT in Warsaw for many years. He developed KWANT into the most important centre of cinema culture in Eastern Europe. Słowicki organized many festivals and film seminars with participation of outstanding people of cinema, culture and politics [Michelangelo Antonioni, Julio Cortazar, Roman Polański, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Sydney Lumet, Fernando Arrabal, Ettore Scola, Claude Lelouch, Miklós Jancsó, István Szabó, Nikita Michalkov, Andrej Konchalovsky, e.t.c.], both in Poland and abroad. An editor and author of books. Laureate of many awards (Sergo Parajanov Award – Pomegranate 2006, International Fund Tbilisi and Parajanov “for great contribution to preserving the memory and popularization of the Great Master’s oeuvre”). Programmer of the Batumi International Art House Film Festival in Batumi / Georgia since the first festival. He was a member of jury at festivals (I Batumi International Film Festival, Lubuskie Lato Filmowe in Łagów / Poland, Film Festival of the Polish National Film, Television and Theater School in Łódz, Film Society KWANT in Warsaw / Poland)..

Mehmet Ali Arslan

Mehmet Ali Arslan

Mehmet Ali Arslan was born in Diyarbakır at 1971. He completed his elementary, middle education and high school in Istanbul. In 1988, he got into Anatolia University’s Faculty of Business Administration in 1989. The same year, he got a job at the Pepsi Cola Agency called Ajanstek in Istanbul, dealing with in Post production and Production team. He worked at Safak Film Laboratory as Laboratory Chief  between 2006 until 2008. 

In 2009 established his film company  “Logos Film Making” and currently working on more Feature film  and Documentary film projects.  His films received awards on several film festivals including -  Adana, Antalya, Malatya, Egypt Alexandria, Ankara film festivals etc.. In 2023 directed film “Balkan Girl” Currently working on feature film directed by himself “ Only Hopes Remain”

Nikoloz Abramashvili

Nikoloz Abramashvili

 

 

 

Nikoloz Abramashvili Nikoloz was born in 1982. In 2003 he graduated from Tbilisi I. Javakhishvili State University, Commerce and Marketing faculty. After that, he began his career in film industry. He is producer and executive producer of 18 feature films, 14 short films and 40 advertisement clips. His films were officially selected at Toronto, San Sebastian, Rotterdam, Warsaw, Los Angeles and many other prestigious film festivals. He is co-founder and director of a film production company “New Georgian Film” and International Short Film Internet Festival “Diogenes 2020”. Also Vice-president of “Georgian Film Academy” and Chairman of supervisory board at JSC “Cinema Club”.

Diana Martirosyan

Diana Martirosyan

 An Armenian film critic and cultural journalist, born, raised in and based in Yerevan. Diana graduated from the Journalism faculty at the Russian-Armenian University with Bachelor’s degree. Then she studied at the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography in the Film Studies department. Diana used to work on TV and radio stations, broadcasting cinema news and interviews. Since 2007 she is involved in various cultural, urban, and cinema events, festivals and projects. She works for the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival and ReAnimania International Animation Film & Comics Art Festival of Yerevan. She has also covered many international film festivals for local Armenian outlets, some articles are published in English and Russian. She was a FIPRESCI jury member at Molodist, Odessa and Torino international film festivals. Diana curates auteur film events and promotes public discussions, Q&As, and screenings among local and international audiences.

George Ovashvili

George Ovashvili – Head of Jury

 

Giorgi  (born 1963, Mtskheta, Georgia, USSR) graduated from the Georgian State Institute of Cinema and Theater (1996) and from the New York Film Academy filmmaking course at Universal Studios in Hollywood (2006). He is a director of both dramas and documentaries that he often produces. He has made a number of memorable shorts: Eye Level (Zgvis donidan… / Mzeris doneze…) received an award at the Berlinale and the fest in Odense, both 2005. In 2009 KVIFF’s East of the West Competition presented his feature debut The Other Bank (Gagma napiri, 2008); the film won almost 50 awards and was nominated for European Discovery of the Year by the European Film Academy. His second picture Corn Island (Simindis kundzuli, 2014) took the Crystal Globe for Best Film at KVIFF and was shortlisted for an Academy Award. Last year he sat on Karlovy Vary’s main jury. His last film KHIBULA was premiered at Karlovy Vary international film festival in 2017 and was shown at BIAFF as opening film. Beautiful Helen, is his last film

Tamar Bartaia

Tamar Bartaia - Head of Jury

Tamar Bartaya

Film and theater screenplay writer. Documentary film director. Doctor of Arts.

Graduated from Shota Rustaveli State University of Theater and Cinema of Georgia - Faculty of Film Directing, Screenplay Department (E.Akhvlediani Workshop); Postgraduate course in theater dramaturgy (T. Chkheidze's workshop); Doctoral degree in the field of art studies.

Tamar is the scriptwriter of more than 20 feature, documentary, animated films, TV series, and mass events.

She has published two books of plays and one novel. Her plays have been translated into English, Russian, Lithuanian, Armenian, Turkish and Ukrainian languages; It has been staged on the stage of almost all theaters in Georgia. Also, in Ukraine, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Great Britain and the United States of America.

She is a laureate of the "Saba" literary prize, a member of the World Association of Women Playwrights.

Rusudan Glurjidze

Rusudan Glurjidze is a Georgian film director, screenwriter, and producer. She graduated in French Language and Literature from the Tbilisi State University and from 1990 to 1996 studied Film Directing and Screenwriting at Giorgi Shengelaia’s class at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film University. Since 2007, she has been working as a producer and art director of Cinetech Film Production Company. 

Rusudan participating in different film festivals as a jury like Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Minsk international film festival "Listopad", Eurasia International Film Festival, Fajr International Film Festival etc.

Artur Veeber

 

Born in 1966  in Tallinn, Estonia. He grauated All-Union Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow, Russia ( film production department ) in 1988,  and obtained Master of Fine Arts in 2000.

Artur is Producer, director, scriptwriter, film distributor. The Head of JAFF film festival, Tallinn, Estonia ( from 2007 ), Chevalier of the Orden of Rising Sun with Golden and Silver Rays ( Japan ) and Honorable Member of Union of filmmakers of Kyrgyzstan   

 

Selected filmography:

2013 -   Film project «Tangerines» (Estonia-Georgia, director Zaza Urushadze) -  producer, author of the original idea of the film;

2015 –  producer of feature film “House for Mermaids”   ( Estonia-Uzbekistan, director Yalkin Tuychiev );  Creative documentary “Farewell Tour” ( Estonia-Kyrgyzstan) Producer. Film was supported by MEDIA Plus program ( EU)

2017 -  Documentary „Rare Breed”, (Estonia-Georgia,director David Pipia), producer;            2019 – feature film „Phantoms of the Sea” ( Uzbekistan-Estonia, director                        Andrey Arutyunov ), co-producer; 2020 – Documentary Silk Strings( Estonia-Uzbekistan ),  producer ( directors Tatjana Mühlbayer and Akbar Bekturdiev );   2022 -  fiction feature film „Call of God. Tribute to Kim Ki-duk” (Estonia-Korea-                       Kyrgyzstan-Lithuania, director Kim Ki-duk ), producer
